SOURCES OF FUNDS FOR MAJOR PHYSICAL FACILITIES CONSTRUCTED OR ACQUIRED

From 1965-66 through 1999-00, the total cost of major physical facilities constructed or acquired on all campuses was $1,360 million.  Bond issues ($624 million, 46%) provide the largest single source of funds for which income from student fees is dedicated to cover the debt service costs.

Facilities financed from gifts and other ($323.8 million, 24%) constitute the second most important funding source since 1965-66. Other funding sources include user fees/revenue bonds ($228.8 million, 17%), direct state appropriations ($96.7 million, 7%), and federal grants ($86.7 million, 6%).

On the Bloomington campus the following major projects were completed:  Indiana Memorial Union: Renovations Phase II ($4,000,000, gifts and other); Auditorium Renovation ($12,500,000: $10,000,000, bonds, user fees, $2,500,000, gifts and other); Willkie Quad Renovation ($28,100,000: $26,600,000, bonds, user fees, $1,500,000, gifts and other); Campbell Street Line Replacement ($3,350,000: $1,350,000, state appropriations, $2,000,000, gifts and other); McNutt South: Electrical Rewiring and Pipe Replacement ($1,939,000, gifts and other); Motor Pool Facility ($1,500,000, gifts and other); Armstrong Stadium: South Grandstand ($2,000,000, gifts and other.) 

On the IUPUI campus, the Electrical Circuit Conversion Phase II ($1,200,000, state appropriations) and Lecture Hall Renovations Phase II ($1,280,000, state appropriations) were completed.  At IPFW, the Kettler Hall, Main: Renovation ($1,722,900, state appropriations) was completed. At IUSB, the Pedestrian Mall Expansion ($1,000,000, gifts and other) was completed.  At IUE, the Classroom and Student Support Services Building and Renovation ($10,800,000, bonds, student fees) was completed. At IUNW, the Academic Activities Building ($10,600,000, bonds, student fees) was completed.
