THE LIBRARIES OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY

The Indiana University Library System includes the libraries on the Bloomington campus, the Indianapolis campus, and the six other campuses. As the largest library system in Indiana, it serves the faculty, students, and staff of Indiana University, all citizens of Indiana, and scholars from around the nation and the world.
The chart below summarizes the number of books and bound journals held by each campus. As of June 30, 2000, the 6,314,658 volumes held by the Bloomington campus libraries made up 68 percent of the total system's holdings. The Indianapolis campus housed 15 percent of the entire collection, and the other campuses held 17 percent of the collection. Between 1994 and 2000, the holdings of the total system increased by 1,413,025 volumes, an increase of almost 18 percent.
