THE APPOINTED STAFF OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY

     The appointed staff of Indiana University consists of the professional, support, clerical, technical, and service maintenance and food service workers who are appointed on a yearly basis.  The tables below and on the next page show the number of appointed employees as of November, 2000, on each campus by functional classification.  Of the 10,693 appointed employees, 17 percent are clerical, 18 percent are service maintenance/food service, 42 percent are professional, 16 percent are support, and 7 percent are technical.  Forty-eight percent of the total number of appointed staff are employed on the Bloomington campus, 38 percent on the IUPUI campus, and 14 percent on the other campuses.  The table does not include the number of part-time hourly and student workers.

     Some staff members have appointments of fewer than 40 hours per week. Full-time equivalency of all appointments is shown in last column.
