SOURCES OF FUNDS FOR MAJOR PHYSICAL FACILITIES CONSTRUCTED OR ACQUIRED
From 1965-66 through 2000-01, the total cost of major physical facilities constructed or acquired on all campuses was $1,390 million. Bond issues ($624 million, 45%) provide the largest single source of funds for which income from student fees is dedicated to cover the debt service costs.
Facilities financed from gifts and other ($337.1 million, 24%) constitute the second most important funding source since 1965-66. Other funding sources include user fees/revenue bonds ($233.8 million, 17%), direct state appropriations ($108.9 million, 8%), and federal grants ($86.7 million, 6%).
On the Bloomington campus the following major projects were completed: Sycamore Hall Basement Renovation ($1,100,000, state appropriation); Simon Center Renovation Ph II ($2,970,000, state appropriation); Willkie Quad Building C Renovation ($4,000,000, gifts and other); Graduate School of Business Replacement and Relocation of Utilities ($1,500,000, state appropriation); Assembly Hall Exterior Renovation ($1,500,000, gifts and other); Smith Research Center Renovation ($1,500,000, state appropriation); Woodburn Hall Renovation of Rooms 100 and 101 ($1,048,000, state appropriation); Read Hall Rewire and Fire Alarm Replacement ($1,900,000, gifts and other); North Campus Parking Facility ($5,000,000, bonds, user fees); Mason Hall Mechanical and Electrical Upgrade/Windows ($1,650,000, gifts and other.)
On the IUPUI campus, the Child Care Center ($3,400,000, gifts and other), the Utility System Tunnel Install Fire Rated Doors and Walls ($1,150,000, state appropriation) and the Superblock Utilities ($1,750,000, state appropriation) were completed. At IPFW, the Central Chiller Replacement Project ($1,100,000, state appropriation) was completed. At IUN, the Childcare Facility ($900,000, gifts and other) was completed.
