THE LIBRARIES OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY

     The Indiana University Library System includes the libraries on the Bloomington campus, the Indianapolis campus, and the six other campuses. As the largest library system in Indiana, it serves the faculty, students, and staff of Indiana University, all citizens of Indiana, and scholars from around the nation and the world.
     The chart below summarizes the number of books and bound journals held by each campus. As of June 30, 2001, the 6,384,711 volumes held by the Bloomington campus libraries made up 71 percent of the total system's holdings. The IUPUI campus housed 15 percent of the entire collection, and the other campuses held 14 percent of the collection. Between 1995 and 2001, the holdings of the total system increased by 943,787 volumes, an increase of almost 12 percent.
