AGE DISTRIBUTION OF FACULTY
The age distribution of 3,915 faculty members with professorial rank is shown below. The average age of professors is 55 at the Bloomington and IUPUI, and 56 at the regional campuses. The average age of associate professors is 48 at Bloomington, 49 at IUPUI, and at the other campuses, 52. Assistant professors' average age at Bloomington is 39, at IUPUI, 41, and at the other campuses, 42. Ten percent of the faculty are age 35 or younger; 16 percent are age 60 or older.
